SHARE Institutional Assessments
ASEAN higher education institutions (HEIs) are undergoing a newly developed institutional assessment scheme which is geared towards the internal quality assurance (IQA) standards of the ASEAN Quality Assurance Framework (AQAF). Eleven HEIs from eight ASEAN Member States have been selected to undergo this review between January and March 2018. They participate in a pilot assessment exercise at an institutional level, which allows the benchmarking of internal QA mechanisms according to regional standards and in view of international good practice. The assessment is development-oriented and shall help to enhance the capacity of the participating HEIs in taking charge of their IQA systems. It includes a Self-Assessment Report, a Site-Visit by a panel of ASEAN and European experts, and a Report which provides recommendations for improvement. Lessons learnt will be presented to an international audience at the SHARE Final Regional Conference in Bangkok in autumn 2018.
The SHARE Pilot Institutional Assessment Scheme was jointly developed by experts from EUA, AUN, AQAN on behalf of AQAN and ASEAN. A Preparatory Training for the participating HEIs was hosted by SHARE in March 2017 in Jakarta. The SHARE assessors were introduced to the AQAF principles and the assessment scheme in December during a seminar hosted by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) in Manila, December 2017.
