5th SHARE National Workshop on the Impact of Qualifications Frameworks and Regional Quality Assurance Standards on Vietnam’s Higher Education

SHARE thanks everyone who contributed to a highly successful 5th SHARE National Workshop on the impact of Qualifications Frameworks and Regional Quality Assurance Standards on Vietnam’s Higher Education. The event was organised by SHARE on behalf of ASEAN in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), Vietnam. The event provided a discussion platform for around 160 participants from 70 institutions in Vietnam and ASEAN. This number includes ministry officials, university leadership representatives and business executives who gathered and exchanged their views on a more efficient and comprehensive way of cooperation in higher education on a national and regional level.
In eight sessions, the participants, together with national and international experts elaborated on how to deepen the positive impact of National Qualifications Frameworks and the possibilities of referencing to the ASEAN Qualifications Reference Framework (AQRF). Furthermore, the development of a sound understanding of learning outcomes and their potential to improve the curricula in Vietnam’s higher education institutions were addressed. In the field of quality assurance, the present structures in Vietnam were comprehensively debated seeing always the relation to the regional standards of the ASEAN Quality Assurance Framework (AQAF). On that basis, current demands and possibilities for capacity building targeting different stakeholder groups could then be identified and planned.
The overall response to the workshops general pivot on the affirmation of present efforts to strengthen national quality assurance instruments and promoting the regional frameworks was very positive and created confidence to further deepen the cooperation with SHARE’s partners in Vietnam.
