SHARE Quality Assurance Team Visits Myanmar

On 23-26 November 2016, SHARE organised a visit to Yangon, Myanmar, led by Prof. Zita Mohd Fahmi (AQAN Secretary and Deputy Chief Executive Officer MQA, Malaysia) and Fiona Crozier (Head of International at The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, United Kingdom), both experts in the field of Quality Assurance (QA). SHARE was represented by Sebastian Gries, SHARE Senior Project Officer at the DAAD Regional Office Jakarta.

The aim of the visit was to learn about the state of play of Quality Assurance in Myanmar, which would allow the team to develop recommendations in the future and, jointly with Myanmar colleagues, design the national SHARE workshop on QA in Myanmar, planned for September 2017.

The SHARE Team met rectors of Myanmar’s major higher education institutions: University of Mandalay, Yangon University of Foreign Languages, University of Yangon, Yangon Institute of Economics, Dagon University, University of Computer Studies, and Yadanabon University. The SHARE Team was very please to also meet representatives of the National Education Policy Commission (NEPC), the President of the Myanmar Engineering Council and the Rector of the Yangon Technological University Myanmar.
